Evri (formerly Hermes UK) the leading consumer delivery company, is opening a new depot in Plymouth, creating over 50 new jobs in the area. It forms part of the company’s commitment to continuing to invest in its infrastructure to ensure it is able to support the growth of online shopping. The new site will open in July 2022.
The new site is on the Parkway Industrial estate and at 60,000 sq ft is almost double the size of the existing depot at Bell Close which has been managed by a third-party contractor. Evri’s decision to invest over £1 million pounds in a new site and move the operation in-house will increase capacity fivefold and provide increased control over service levels. All existing permanent workers will TUPE across.
Ethan Treble-Westlake, Depot Manager at the new Plymouth site, said: “At our new depot we will be able to handle up to 480,000 parcels each week at peak times and provide a strong delivery service for the local community and a good working environment for our people.”
