New industrial workplace safety and impact protection solutions from specialists Brandsafe have been specified for a new major European logistics centre.
The move sees Brandsafe designing and supplying a comprehensive range of safety and protection products and integrated systems for online retailer Amazon’s 180,000 sq. ft. two-storey strategic hub on the outskirts of Bologna in northern Italy, which is being developed as part of plans to further improve its delivery service to millions of customers.
In a collaborative approach to project management and delivery, Brandsafe is working in cooperation with both SH2Engineering GmbH and Amazon Italia Transport S.R.L.
High levels of impact protection for people and property will be provided as hundreds of products, including high visibility flexi-delineators with safety chains to prevent people from walking or storing products underneath mezzanine structures and stairways, are installed by Brandsafe’s service teams as part of a package of safety measures at the Bologna site.
A unique feature of this particular project includes the installation of dozens of impact absorbing polymer column protectors, which are being individually customised by Brandsafe to fit the angled frames and main steelwork supporting the mezzanine flooring, providing an additional level of bespoke safety protection.
Products are being manufactured by Brandsafe to meet the client’s tight timeframe and include a range of safety cages designed to protect electrical panels and IT systems among other critical operational systems in a demanding industrial environment.
The Bologna centre is the latest of multiple Amazon projects that Brandsafe has been involved with in recent years, contributing to the firm’s growing overseas success in providing industrial workplace safety solutions for major warehouse and logistics centre infrastructure projects.
Peter Jelich, Brandsafe’s European strategic account manager, said the company is seen as a leading European supplier of quality impact protection products and integrated systems. He added: “This project reflects our strong relationship with Amazon, helping them to ensure their facilities provide the highest safety standards through careful system design, planning and installation.
“It also vindicates our continued investment in building our capability and expertise to ensure we can deliver time critical, complex and high-profile contracts using the very latest high-performance products.”
