Goplasticpallets.com – The Responsible Plastic Pallet Company – has teamed up with Plastic Free Eastbourne campaigners and donated a selection of engaging recycling-themed books and teaching resources to every one of the 22 state primary schools in its home town Eastbourne. This will help educate pupils about the impact of plastics on ocean ecosystems, and ultimately encourage them to reduce and recycle the single-use plastic items they have to use.
The Wild Tribe Heroes series of books, written by author Ellie Jackson, is based on true stories from her time living on Magnetic Island in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The first book she wrote ‘Duffy’s Great Escape’ tells the story of Duffy the sea turtle who after a year of treatment for ingesting plastic was released back into the ocean – something Ellie and her young family had the magical experience of witnessing first hand.
Emma Hall, Office Manager for Goplasticpallets.com recently attended Langney Primary School and officially presented the books to Head teacher, Mr Ben Bowles and Science Green Team leader, James Farrelly. The Mayor of Eastbourne, Gill Mattock and Eastbourne UnLtd Chamber’s Chief Executive, Christina Ewbank as well as Oliver Sterno, who is leading the Plastic Free Eastbourne campaign also participated in the event. David Stopp, local singer/songwriter entertained and inspired everyone with his campaigning song “Journey of Love”.
Ben said: “We take a very proactive approach to recycling at our school; our Science Green Team leader is supported by a team of enthusiastic students who help steer our recycling initiatives. We’re delighted with the books and teaching resources that have been generously donated and would like to say a big thank you to Goplasticpallets and Plastic Free Eastbourne.”
